The Battle

During the Great Depression of the 1930’s these were frustrating years for Ford. He could not accept the changes brought on by President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New Deal Plan to help the United States with the recovery from the Great Depression.

Harry Bennett influenced Ford Company, as head of Fords security department. He also created problems between Ford and his son Edsel.

For many reasons Ford didn’t want to work with the National Recovery Administration, which oversaw codes of fair competition among business’s. He also refused to work with the United Automobile Workers and the labor unions and stopped their attempts to organize the workers of his company.
